Random Memories

First off, thank you everyone for your concern. Scuba elf started a new job yesterday. We are happy but zero christmas shopping will be done until the 15th. The adults may have to wait for pressies cuz they can handle it. But I have to get Burfica's kiddos pressies bought and shipped right away.

I've been sick sick sick for the last 2 weeks. That's why I didn't post. I had NO energy. I even missed 2 days of work as I could NOT get out of bed. I slept for almost 48 hours.

For some reason I've been having random memories going on so I'm just gonna ponder and bore you to death. (stop reading here if you value your sanity)

Dust mops. I remember when I was a little kid, my mom used to have this dust mop and she'd sweep the whole house with it. For some reason I used to love the sound when she would shake the dust mop it always made me happy. Now I have my own dust mop, doesn't make me so happy but it's a good memory.

Popcorn. My mom used to pop popcorn all the time. Not once a week, not twice a week but at the very least 3 or more times a week. She had her special skillet for popcorn, she had this thing for at least 25 years that I know of. I think she finally burnt a hole through it. She'd put oil in this pan, let it get hot and toss in a couple hands of popcorn throw the lid on and wait for that first popping noise. Then she'd get out a stick of butter and put it in another pan and wait for it to melt. When she heard that first pop, she'd start shaking the pan and would not stop until the last pop was heard. All popcorn into the special yellow popcorn bowl, the whole stick of butter on it and we were feasting.

Station Wagons: My very first car was a 69 chevy station wagon that had monte carlo wheels on it. If you went over 30 miles an hour the front end would shimmy so hard you could barley hold the wheel. So yup we used to take it on the highway doing 75. Amazing we are still alive.

Smokey and the Bandit. Burfica used to ride in the back of the station wagon when she was young. Her and all her friends. One day I had her back there, the back window open, the drivers ed teacher was behind us (I had a huge crush on this man he was so fucking cute) Anyway we are driving slowly in front of the post office, I had to stop, the teacher stops behind us. Burfica who had just watched Smokey and the Bandit gets up on her knees, leans out the back window, both hands on her hips and at the very top of her voice screams "Get off our ass your sombitch" I died right on the spot.

Brodies. I know we've eluded to this before, but in the same station wagon with Burfica and all her friends in the back, I would head toward the lake and find a good piece of loose dirt. Now imagine 3 or 4 little girls maybe 9 years old in the back of a old metal station wagon. (NO SEATBELTS PEOPLE those were for pussy's) and I'd hit the dirt at about 50 and start spinning brodies in the dirt. Did you know you can obtain 0 gravity with 4 9 year olds when you spin fast enough. But they always bitched about the bruises from rebounding off the sides, the roof and the floor. Sheesh.

Growing up. When my parents got divorced, mom said you are gonna have to help take care of Burfica. I kind of took that to the extreme sometimes acting like the mom. Burf hated it, I understand why, but I just wanted her to be safe, to be happy and to buckle down in school. She didn't have an easy time studying like I did. I could blow off reading a book, listen to a lecture and pull 90's on tests. She didn't have it that easy. As we've grown up, I'm so happy that my baby sister is my best friend.

Scuba elf. What can I say, we met on the internet in December of 1998, he finally talked me into letting him fly out to AZ in Feb of 99. He stayed 5 days, flew home on a Monday, we were engaged on Friday and Married in August. We've had some rocky times and at one point almost broke it off, but we hung in there, and our love is stronger then ever. He is my life and my love.

I have a ton more memoires floating around in my brain, but I'd stop boring you now.
I hope everyone had a great holiday if you are in the US. We went to my girlfriends house and had dinner, then I had to work that night.

Hugs

I'm glad Scuba got a new job and things are going to be ok for you guys. I was scared that I wasn't going to get my present on time. ;)

Dust mops remind of me of the janitor at my elementary school, Mr Lynch. I guess that's kind of a long time ago...
