United Airlines Sucks

howdy, it's been awhile but life has been busy.
Just got back from visiting Burfica. It was great and a whole recharging visit. We lounged around most the time. Had a candle and upper case living party, (that's these sticker sort of things that make great accents etc) Between ordering candles, the sticker things and Avon I was like darn. :-)

Had a great BBQ with the family on Friday. Got to see friends and family and meet some new people. Burf and Gigantor always throw the best bbq's. My kiddo is growing up so much that unless we were playing a board game with him he didn't want to hang out with Aunt Alekx to much. I knew the day was coming I wouldn't be the cool kid on the block anymore but sighhhhhhhh. They need to stop growing up.

The family got me on the puddle jumper plane on time and off we took. Got to Farmington NM for an hour lay over. No worries, get on that puddle jumper plane to Denver Colorado, get to my United Terminal, and BAM flight has been canceled. What the fuck. So I go over to customer service. I'm like 30th back from the counter. (There are in excess of 250 people in line) and they have, let me count them 2, yes 2 people helping 20+ canceled flights (1000 or more people) because their people were walking off the job I guess. So 30 people back I stood in line for like 2 hours only to be told I could not get on a flight until morning. GRRRRRRRR. Got my hotel voucher and some food and headed out. At least it was a nice room. Get to the flight the next morning, and it's fucking over sold. So they threatened to bump many of us to the 10 am flight. I was getting angry by this point. Last minute they gave me my seat back. I was the very last person on a full flight. But I got home. Then had to go search for my luggage that at least made it to Dallas/Ft Worth before I did. Came home and went to bed as I had to work last night.

I'm training a new dispatcher at work so I was trying to be on my toes but I was frigging tired. :-) And then we had to me the very worst call that can come into the fire/ems side of dispatch. A 5 month old baby not breathing. My trainee of course could not handle that kind of call so I took over. Help the parents do CPR until the paramedics got there. But as many good outcome calls as I get, this one wasn't one of them. Had to help the new girl realize that we can only do our best and as much as we want to help everyone, the ultimate life and death decision is not in our hands.

So time to go make some dinner for the elf and I and get ready for another day at the office. The elf travels next week so I'll be home with the killer dogs and cats and his psyco bird. :-)

Have a good day all.

Hey, I know burfica, well as well as you can get to know someone in blogger, haha.

    Hi burfica....

Anyway, hello, and just wanted to pop over and give you a visit, I like blogs that talk about family, and everyday things. Me, not so much into world issues.......because I don't know anything about them, stuck here in my own little world. haha.

Arg, about your flight......I had that kind of thing happen once on Delta....never book a flight on Delta for the afternoons, if they are heading to Chicago......NEVER. They are always cancelled, I hear. Anyway, I can totally sympathize. I know exactly the frustration you went through, I remember it so well. Talk about stress............

I'm glad that you had a nice visit. I love family time. There is nothing better as far as I am concerned.
Wow. I can only imagine how difficult your job must be some days. I quit my job at the morgue for that very reason. Too many kids coming in.
When Kayla was 11 months she stopped breathing and I had to call 911. I know that you were not the dispatcher that day, but whomever she was, she saved my baby. Thst lady kept me from losing my mind and she saved my Kayla. You make such a difference for so may people. :)

This is a "form comment" to my blog buddies.

Poor old Bloggin' Babzy was all worn out so I had to kill her off and bury her in the "Garden of the Past" along with a few other characters, thought patterns, bad habits, and old shoes. In time I will be starting a brand new blog with a completely different focus and will send you the link.

Until then enjoy the rest of the summer my friend. Take care.

There is no way I could handle being a dispatcher in that situation! Kudos to you and your nerves of steel woman!
We had to fly in July too, I love SouthWest they always leave on time, most of the time it is early and we had nary a snare in the whole trip and we boarded and unboarded 8 times over the course of a week!
